Tim Wanyonyi Joins Leaders in Mourning Elvis Murakana Namenya

A somber atmosphere filled the Holy Trinity Church in Kileleshwa today as Hon. Tim Wanyonyi joined family, friends, and leaders in paying tribute to Elvis Murakana Namenya, the son of Dagoretti North MP, Hon. Beatrice Elachi.

The memorial service brought together dignitaries and mourners who shared heartfelt messages of comfort and remembrance for a promising young life gone too soon.

Elvis, a final-year student at Africa Nazarene University, was on the verge of a bright future, set to graduate this June.

His tragic passing in a road accident on March 25, 2025, has left an immense void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.

During the emotional memorial service, Hon. Elachi expressed her profound gratitude for the prayers, love, and support her family has received. She emphasized the importance of faith, urging young people to seek God’s protection in their daily lives.

“As a family, we have embraced prayers. I want to urge our young people—before you leave home, always pray to God to protect you in everything you do,” she said.

She also encouraged open communication between parents and their children.

“Elvis will always be my testimony. I encourage young people to keep their parents informed about their whereabouts. Even if you plan to handle a problem on your own, let them know, just so they are aware,” she added.

Hon. Tim Wanyonyi was among the leaders who stood in solidarity with Hon. Elachi during this difficult time.

He joined fellow Members of Parliament and Senate in offering heartfelt condolences and support to the grieving family.

Majority Whip Hon. Sylvanus Osoro shared a moving tribute, describing Hon. Elachi as a mother figure to him.

“We have walked this journey together as a family. I sincerely offer my condolences and pledge to stand with you, not just today, but always. No parent should have to bury their child,” he said.

ODM Secretary General and Senate Deputy Minority Whip, Sen. Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi), also conveyed his sympathies on behalf of the Senate and the ODM Party.

Hon. (Dr.) Eve Obara (Kabondo Kasipul), who chaired the funeral organizing committee, recognized those who stood by Elvis in his final moments, including doctors and first responders.

She also reflected on her long-standing friendship with Hon. Elachi, which has endured since before she became an MP.

The memorial service was attended by several leaders, including Hon. Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Hon. John Kiarie (Dagoretti South), Hon. Irene Mayaka (Nominated), Hon. Fatuma Mohammed (Migori), and many other Members of the National Assembly and Senate.

Also present were the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye, and former Members of Parliament.

Elvis Murakana Namenya will be laid to rest tomorrow, March 29, 2025, in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. 🕊️
