Nyandarua county governor has left mouths of residents wide open in his county, after he launched a Christmas tree whose cost was shs 12,000,00 million.
In a letter dated on the 17th of December 2020 and seen by Mt Kenya Times, governor Francis Kimemia, through his CECM of Department of Education, Culture & the Arts Hon Daniel Wangenye, invited Nyandarua county residents to the official launch of a Christmas tree Fund yesterday at Mairoinya Town from 11 am
“His Excellency Governor Francis Kimemia, EGH, CBS,through the Department of Education, Culture & the arts,invites you to the official launch of this year’s Nyandarua County Christmas Tree Fund on 23rd December, 2020 at Mairoinya Town from 11am.” the letter read.
According to Kimemia, the Christmas Tree was imported from Italy by the Department and did cost his government Kshs 12,000,00 million. He further added that the tree had become an annual event which was aimed at helping the most vulnerable in the society and that it will be used rotationally across different sub-counties across the county each year.
“The Christmas Tree, which has become our annual event aimed at helping the most vulnerable in our society, which will be used rotationally across different sub-counties across the county each year, the Christmas tree was recently acquired by the Department from Italy at a modest cost of Kshs. 12,000,000 (twelve million shillings only).” kimemia’s letter went further to say.
The launch of the Christmas Tree Fund was part of the county’s tradition, where senior county government officials deliver food stuffs to the needy in Nyandarua ahead of Christmas festivities. Packages delivered contain assorted foodstuffs such as cooking oil, rice, baking flour, groundnuts, county magazines and a portrait of Governor Kimemia.
