Nzoia Sugar Coach Remains Confident Despite Loss: ‘We Are Not Going to be Relegated’

Nzoia Sugar FC endured a 4-0 defeat against Murang’a Seal in an FKF Premier League match at the Sportpesa Arena on Sunday afternoon. Joe Waithira, Titus Kapchanga, Batts Awita, and Maxwell Odada secured the win for Murang’a Seal.

Despite the setback, Nzoia Sugar head coach Mike Muiruri expressed confidence in his team’s ability to avoid relegation, urging his players to stay focused.

“For now, let us remain focused. We are not going to be relegated. That one I can assure you. There are positives to take from Sunday’s fixture because we had our own chances as well,” Mururi stated.

He attributed the heavy loss to missed opportunities and lack of experience, acknowledging the need to improve in those areas.

“We created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on them, which contributed to our loss. Defensively, we were lacking, but I understand the squad is young and still learning. I will continue working with them as we prepare for our next fixture against Gor Mahia,” the ex-international commented.

Muiruri emphasized the importance of enhancing defense and finishing to enhance their survival prospects in future matches.

“We are going to work on our defense and finishing because there is still room for improvement in the upcoming matches. Our next game is at home, presenting another opportunity to secure maximum points,” he added.

Currently at the bottom of the table with 17 points, Nzoia Sugar faces an uphill battle, but Muiruri’s determination and strategic approach could be pivotal in their quest to avoid relegation.
