In a spirited display of political unity and commitment to education, Westlands MP Hon. Tim Wanyonyi today led the NG-CDF bursary application process in Mt. View Ward at Kabete National Polytechnic. The event, marked by enthusiastic community participation and robust political discourse, has reinforced the strong bond between the people of Mt. View and their trusted leader, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi.

The atmosphere was both emotional and determined. Hon. Tim Wanyonyi began by expressing his gratitude for the support shown during his family’s recent bereavement. “We came to your homes to condole with you, and you treated us with warmth. For those who could not attend, I know you prayed for us,” he remarked, emphasizing that the community’s solidarity is what drives his commitment to serving Westlands.
Transparent Bursary Process and Educational Commitment

The NG-CDF bursary application process, which saw 1,300 applications—1,000 for secondary school students and 300 for college and university students—was conducted with full transparency. Hon. Wanyonyi reiterated that these bursaries are a right of taxpayers and are distributed free of charge. He assured the community, “Not all people usually get bursaries, but we are here to ensure that every eligible student receives their rightful support. This process is about giving every child the opportunity to learn and grow.”
Political Accountability and Future Vision

Adding a political angle to the proceedings, Mt. View MCA Maurice Ochieng, whose ward is known for giving Hon. Tim Wanyonyi the highest votes, addressed the gathering. “For those eyeing my seat, wait till 2027 for the people to evaluate my track record. For those joining ODM, maturity takes time,” he cautioned. Ochieng underscored that the recent ODM grassroots elections should remind everyone that even those who did not win must remain loyal to the party.
Ochieng also addressed concerns regarding bursary delays from previous applications. “For those complaining about not accessing my bursaries, today we are here to see how Hon. Tim is efficiently handling the bursary process. If you applied for the December bursaries, we are still waiting after the delays caused by the Controller of Budget, Margaret Nyakang’o. We request that Hon. Tim agitate in Parliament so that counties can offer these bursaries more consistently. These bursaries not only help individuals but also complement the educational initiatives already in place.”
A Call for Policy Reforms and Enhanced Support

The discourse turned towards broader governance issues as Ochieng called on Hon. Wanyonyi to lead efforts in Parliament. “When you go back to Parliament, please send an amendment to change the management of SHA. For those here, I request you to register for SHA because it is available, and we must work within the system while pushing for reform,” he said. This call for action reflects a broader desire for accountability and efficiency in managing public funds and health services.
Unwavering Loyalty to ODM

Both political leaders affirmed their loyalty to ODM, emphasizing that despite any coalition pressures, their party remains a dominant force in holding the government accountable. “We remain in ODM, and our commitment to our constituents will always guide our actions,” Ochieng added, echoing the sentiment that true political service is measured by tangible results rather than fleeting alliances.
