MP Hon. Tim Wanyonyi today visited Kangemi, accompanied by MCA Hamisi Maleya, to address the concerns of traders whose goods were seized in a recent swoop. Many traders reported that their stock was confiscated without consultation or due process, leaving them anxious and discouraged.

Hon. Tim began his engagement at the Kangemi Flyover, speaking directly to traders and assuring them that their elected leaders are present and committed to defending their livelihoods. He reminded the community that no one has the authority to harass them or disrupt their businesses outside the law. Leadership must follow proper structures, not intimidation or fear.

The visit then moved to Kangemi Social Hall, where Wanyonyi held a deeper discussion with traders and local stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of dignity, respect, and lawful engagement in matters touching on people’s businesses. The MP reaffirmed his long-standing principle of protecting the rights, property, and peace of ordinary citizens.

He further noted that the national government has already announced plans for a modern Kangemi market valued at KES 800 million, which will accommodate all traders once complete. Until then, those conducting lawful business should continue their work without fear.
Hon. Tim Wanyonyi’s message was clear:
Westlands is home, and Kangemi traders are not alone. Their leaders will stand with them, uphold the law, and safeguard their livelihoods.
