Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, who also serves as the ODM Chairman for Westlands, convened a significant meeting this morning with the chairpersons of the 16 other Nairobi constituencies. The primary aim of the gathering was to strategize on revitalizing the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) within the city.

The meeting saw the attendance of prominent party figures, including Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto, who chairs the ODM in Dagoretti North Constituency. The discussions were centred on quick wins, such as a robust recruitment drive aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots support ahead of the forthcoming ODM elections in Nairobi.
The ODM is currently conducting grassroots elections across various parts of Kenya, with Nairobi scheduled to be the last of the 47 counties to hold these elections. This phased approach underscores the importance of strategic planning and thorough preparation in Nairobi, a key political battleground.

At the ODM National Governing Council held at Bomas of Kenya on April 18, 2024, ODM party leader Raila Odinga emphasized the necessity of fortifying the party and enhancing its governance. “Most importantly, we need a team whose sole focus is to take this party to power. ODM must govern. The party must govern,” stated Mr. Odinga.
Under the leadership of Raila Odinga, the ODM remains the most preferred party in Nairobi, reflecting its significant influence and the trust it holds among Nairobi’s electorate. The strategic meeting spearheaded by Tim Wanyonyi marks a crucial step towards ensuring that the ODM continues to dominate Nairobi’s political landscape and is well-prepared for the upcoming elections.
With a focus on grassroots mobilization and strategic planning, the ODM is poised to strengthen its foothold in Nairobi.
