Westlands NG-CDF Issues 2,800 Bursaries in Parklands and Kitisuru

Hundreds of parents and students turned up in large numbers as the NG-CDF Westlands rolled out bursary cheque issuance for Parklands/Highridge and Kitisuru wards, in a continued effort to support access to education across the constituency.

A total of 2,800 bursary cheques were issued during the exercise, with 2,000 allocated to secondary school students and 800 to tertiary students, providing much-needed relief to families struggling with education costs.

Speaking during the issuance, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi reaffirmed his commitment to serving all residents equally and ensuring transparency in the bursary process.

“Your cheques are here and we give them freely and openly. It does not matter where your child studies; as long as you are a voter in Westlands, we will support you to educate your children,” he said.

The legislator emphasized that the NG-CDF program has significantly reduced the burden of frequent harambees for school fees and development projects, while also facilitating the construction of learning institutions such as Loresho Secondary School, which continues to produce students advancing to university.

He also highlighted ongoing empowerment initiatives targeting women and youth, including table banking programs that have improved household incomes and youth-focused projects aimed at creating opportunities.

“For the 15 years you have given me to serve, I remain grateful. Whoever comes after me should be beter than me,” he added.

NG-CDF Westlands Bursary Committee Chairperson, Pastor Ngaira, noted that the fund has expanded its support to ensure inclusivity.

“Last year, we doubled the allocation of bursaries to colleges to 400, while maintaining 1,000 high school beneficiaries in each ward. All those who applied and filled the forms will receive their cheques,” he said.

He further called on beneficiaries who may have missed previous collection days to visit the NG-CDF office.

“Those who did not collect their cheques during the Kangemi/Mt. View and today’s Kitisuru and Parklands exercises can visit our new office on Wednesday. On Friday, we will be in Karura Ward at Hospital Hill High School.”

NG-CDF Westlands Chairlady Frida Lenayasa underscored the fairness of the exercise.

“We do not discriminate anyone in this process. We serve all residents equally,” she said.

Residents who benefited from the bursary program expressed appreciation for the continued support.

Francis Musungu, a resident, praised the long-term impact of the initiative.

“It is a privilege to have Hon. Tim. Since 2013, he has helped educate our children, and some are now working. We are very grateful and continue to pray for him,” he said.

The NG-CDF bursary program remains a key pillar in Westlands, helping ensure that students from all backgrounds are able to access education and pursue their academic goals without interruption.
