Over 200 students of Hospital High School have a reason to smile after a new, modern well equipped dormitory was commissioned at the institution by area Member of Parliament (MP) Tim Wanyonyi.
In a colourful ceremony held at the school on Friday, October 14, the students, through their teachers and parents’ representatives, expressed their excitement at the new facility saying it had come at an opportune time when the war against infectious diseases was still on.
In his address to the students, the third time Westlands MP encouraged the learners to maintain high levels of discipline, explaining that it was a vital trait for a good leader and responsible citizen.
Through education, he said, many opportunities present themselves and it’s only those with the zeal, determination and dream that would make it.
At the same time, he encouraged the learners that success does not mean scoring good grades in examinations saying that even those who post lower grades can still make a major step in life because they have knowledge, skills and a good view of the world.
“One more thing that we know we cannot make a mistake about is when we invest in education. If we give our children education, good education, they can take care of themselves, they can go anywhere in the world and they can fit,” he said.
He gave examples of many Kenyans working abroad, some who did not perform so well, and are doing so well and investing back in the country.
The block was constructed at a cost of KSh 40 million with Westlands Constituency under the NG-CDF contributing Ksh 25 million.
The block has a capacity of 256 students, has modern ablution and washing areas for the learners.
Also, the students requested the legislator to help them put up a perimeter wall as one way of ensuring they are well secured.
“I have, already, asked your teacher to get the quotation of constructing the wall you’ve been requesting. All we want is to make you secure,” he said as he assured the school community of his commitment to provide a conducive environment for the learners.Hospital Hill Students Over the Moon as MP Wanyonyi Commissions KSh 40M Dormitory
