Release Me With Your Blessings, Tim Wanyonyi Tells Westlands Women

In a deeply emotional address at Kabete PAG Church, Westlands MP Hon. Tim Wanyonyi met over 500 women drawn from all five wards of the constituency. The meeting comes just days after his public announcement to shift his 2027 political bid from Nairobi to his rural home county of Bungoma, where he plans to vie for governor.

Hon. Wanyonyi, who has served as MP since 2013, assured the women that he is not abandoning them. “I have not gone yet. We still have two years together,” he said. He promised to complete ongoing projects, including school sponsorships, table banking programs, and bursary allocations, before handing over the leadership baton.

The Westlands legislator, a three-term MP under ODM, explained his decision was driven by the overwhelming reception he received in Bungoma recently. “They have embraced me without conditions. I spoke to Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and told him Nairobi is full of uncertainties. Bungoma is calling—and I have answered.”

The women, though emotional, gave their blessings. “You are the father of many in Westlands,” said Hellen Ayuma. Christine Nekesa added, “Give us a good replacement—someone who can fit into your shoes.” Many shared touching testimonies of how Hon. Tim had transformed their lives through education, healthcare, and empowerment programs.

As he closed, Hon. Wanyonyi reassured them, “Bungoma is still in Kenya. When you need me, I’ll be there. If I become governor, it will be even easier to help.” His message was clear—though the path ahead leads to Bungoma, his heart remains firmly rooted in Westlands.
