Tim Wanyonyi Warns Sakaja Against Harrasing Traders

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has been warned against harassing Nairobi youth and destroying their small businesses.

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi officially opens the tarmacked Crescent road in Parklands on June 23, 2023.

In a strong message to the governor, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi said it will not be business as usual should the governor and his officers continue destroying small businesses by traders in Westlands CBD without giving them alternatives.

Speaking on Friday, June 23, when he officially opened newly tarmacked Crescent Road in Parklands, Mr Wanyonyi said it was bad to chase away small traders from their places of work without offering them alternative spaces to operate from.

“We will not accept it when the governor comes and destroys businesses here,” he said.

“Show them an alternative site, not just chasing them away from here and taking them nowhere,” he added.

He said that Mr Sakaja knows Nairobi very well and he has the capability of directing business people to a specific place where they can operate from.

He said, as MPs and leaders, they are ready to work with Mr Sakaja without considering party affiliations as he is the one in office at the moment and needs to serve all.

“We have no problem with the Governor. Even if I want that seat, he is the current governor but when it comes 2027, we will tell him you have failed, please go home,” he said.

In the last elections, the Westlands MP was the favourite to clinch the City Hall seat on an ODM ticket under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition but he was prevailed upon to step aside for Jubilee’s Polycarp Igathe.

Having practiced all his politics in the City, Mr Wanyonyi had created a strong network and a fanatical support across the county putting him at the top of the pecking order.

And as he opened the Crescent road, he urged motorists to be careful and operate within the traffic laws so as to save lives and even maintain the road.

He urged traffic police to be on high alert as he warned motorists that they will face the law should they be found breaking any traffic laws.

On youth empowerment, the legislator encouraged the younger generation to seek and engage in meaningful business ventures instead of engaging in criminal activities.

At the same time, he donated a beauty package to a group of Parklands ladies operating a salon.
