In a gesture of solidarity and support, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, who eyes the Nairobi governorship in 2027, extended a helping hand to Kibra United Football Club today. The act comes as a beacon of hope for the struggling Division One side, who received a cash donation from the esteemed politician.
The donation, presented by Ben Mwonyonyo and Erick Kuchio, was warmly received by Kibra United officials, led by the club patron, Hon. Benard Okoth Imran. Despite Kibra United’s inconsistent performance this season, currently finding themselves in the relegation zone, the support from Wanyonyi injects optimism into their remaining fixtures.
While Kibra United calls Kibra constituency home, Wanyonyi’s assistance transcends local boundaries, emphasizing his commitment to the broader Nairobi community. Hon. Imran, the immediate former MP of Kibra, expressed gratitude on behalf of the club, presenting Wanyonyi with a replica merchandise of Kibra United as a token of appreciation.
In response, Wanyonyi reiterated his dedication to uplifting Nairobi’s sporting talent and fostering a culture of excellence. His support extends beyond the political realm, aiming to empower grassroots initiatives such as Kibra United.
With their spirits lifted, Kibra United gears up to face off against Equity FC in their next league encounter scheduled for Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Gems Cambridge grounds from 2 pm. Hon. Imran urged supporters to rally behind the team, emphasising the importance of community backing in their quest for success.
