This marks a doubling of Brookside’s sponsorship from previous years, underscoring the company’s commitment to supporting youth sports in the country. The dairy processing giant has been a steadfast sponsor of the inter-schools competition since 2002, with the exception of the years 2020 to 2022 when the event was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Wilson Okong’o, Communication Manager at Brookside, highlighted that a substantial portion of the sponsorship, amounting to Sh. 21.5 million, will be dedicated to essential aspects of the games such as preparations, participant kits, and awards. Additionally, Sh. 8.75 million will be allocated for branding purposes during the event.
Speaking on the increased sponsorship, Okong’o emphasized Brookside’s dedication to nurturing talent and promoting sports development in Kenya. He stated, “These games serve as a vital platform for identifying and nurturing sporting talents, and Brookside is proud to contribute towards this noble cause.”
David Ngugi, Secretary General of KSSSA, expressed gratitude for the full return of Brookside’s sponsorship after the disruption caused by the pandemic. Ngugi hailed the school games as a significant avenue for discovering and honing athletic abilities, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in the global sporting landscape.
Nelson Sifuna, deputy director at the Ministry of Education, commended the partnership between KSSSA and Brookside, highlighting its role in fostering sports development among Kenya’s youth.
The Term One Games will showcase a variety of sporting disciplines including basketball, netball, rugby, hockey, swimming, cross country, and track events. With the generous support of Brookside Dairy Limited, the event promises to be a celebration of athletic talent and a testament to the power of corporate social responsibility in advancing sports across the nation.
