Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has affirmed his resolve to go all the way to the ballot in the 2027 polls as a Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant.
Speaking at Church of Christ Africa in Buruburu, the Westlands MP said that this time he will not drop his bid of becoming the fifth Nairobi governor as was the case in 2022 where he was forced to step down in favour of Polycarp Igathe of Jubilee party.
“At the moment I am the Westlands MP. In 2022, I was vying to be the Nairobi governor under ODM. However our Azimio coalition partners zoned Nairobi for a jubilee candidate and I had to go back to Westlands. This time whether there is zoning or no zoning I will be on the ballot,” Wanyonyi affirmed
The third term highly ranked Member of Parliament, said that consensus is rife in ODM that the party is of age and will field candidates across the country where they stand a chance to win.
“We have reached a consensus with our party leader Raila Odinga that ODM is a big party and we can always field candidates in any position in this country,” said Wanyonyi.
He asked the church to continue praying for the country and the ongoing bi-partisan talks.
Mr Wanyonyi said that the outcome of the bi-partisan talks benefit the country.
“When you see Raila Odinga stepping back it means he really loves the country and he is a real statesman. He has done so severally and he has the best interests of the country,” Wanyonyi said.
The lawmaker also said that Kenya should remain a Godly nation and not allow any enactment to allow legalisation of same sex marriages.
“They want parliament to legislate on those matters. We are vigilant and will throw them out as was the case in Uganda. We better not get foreign aid and maintain our culture and decency,” he said.

Hon Wanyonyi congratulated Rev. Archdeacon Winfred Odhiambo on her consecration as the new Assistant Bishop of the church.
