The Boston Celtics secured their 18th NBA championship by defeating the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals. In a 106-88 victory during Game 5, the Celtics clinched the title, breaking the tie with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most championships in league history. Jayson Tatum led the way with 31 points, 11 assists, and 8 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown, named NBA Finals MVP, contributed 21 points and 8 rebounds. This victory marks Boston’s first title since 2008 when Garnett,Ray Allen and Paul Pierce beat the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2. The Boston Celtics dorminated this finals from game one and although the Dallas Mavericks had their magical moments like their impressive stance in game 4 where they came alive and beat the Celtics 122-84,keeping the series alive and consequently forcing a game 5 that was highly anticipated by the entire NBA fraternity.

Strong Celtics Defense: The Celtics held the Mavericks to their lowest scoring total of the postseason. Luka Doncic, who had faced criticism about his defense, struggled to find his rhythm.

Although their phenomenal plays and determination put the team at a better winning position it is accurate to say that the Boston Celtics win came as a result of a well coordinated team that fought effortlesly to secure the Boston farnchises’ win after a 16 year wait.
Jaylen Brown was named the 2024 Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP after the Boston Celtics after consistently proving to be the celtics key player this season both offensively and defensively. The tenacious Brown managed to average an impressive: PTS. 23.0. 19th ; REB. 5.5 showing he truly deserved the award, the small forward also won the eastern conference mvp.
The MVP race was a close one since Jaylen Brown had to contest for it with his teammate Jayson Tatum who also posted impressive stats this season only difference was that he wasn’t as consistent as his ‘Vjayjay twin’, but he was deservedly given the player of the game after posting a spectacular 31 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and two steals putting his team at a winning position showing that he is indeed not only a great player but a lso a great leader.
The Celtics will not only be crowned as the 23/24 champions but also go down in history as they have broken the record as the team with most championships in NBA history a record they still previously shared with their all time rivals Los Angeles Lakers at a total of seventeen, now they stand alone as the most dorminant team to have ever stepped in an NBA court since it’s inception.
