Kenya Police Secure Mozzart Cup Semifinal Berth with Dominant Win Over Sofapaka

Dandora, Nairobi – Kenya Police FC moved a step closer to clinching their first major title after a commanding 4-0 win over Sofapaka in the Mozzart Bet Cup quarterfinals, securing their spot in the semifinals of the tournament.

A pivotal moment in the game came in the 24th minute when David Okoth, a former Kakamega Homeboyz forward, blasted a left-footed strike past Sofapaka’s goalkeeper to break the deadlock. His goal followed a lapse in the Batoto Ba Mungu’s defense, after a poor clearance by Rodgers Kipkemoi. This goal set the tone for Police’s dominating performance at Dandora Stadium.

Though the first 20 minutes were closely contested, Okoth’s goal shifted the momentum in Police’s favor. The lead was extended in the 55th minute when Okoth’s teammate, Samuel Onyango, scored his first goal of the match, calmly finishing from close range after a fine assist from Titus Okello. Onyango added his second in the 69th minute, converting a low cross from Okoth to further widen the gap between the teams.

Sofapaka had their chances to level the score, with Thomas Kakaire missing a crucial opportunity to equalize before halftime, and Okello narrowly failing to double the lead for Police. In the closing stages of the game, Police’s dominance was solidified when Marvin Nabwire, who came on as a second-half substitute, netted deep into stoppage time to make it 4-0.

Despite sustaining an injury in the 84th minute, Titus Okello’s earlier contributions helped Police establish a comfortable lead. His replacement, Clinton Kinanga, had an immediate impact, setting up Nabwire’s goal just minutes after coming on.

With this resounding victory, Kenya Police FC advanced to the semifinals, with their sights set on both the Mozzart Bet Cup and the FKF Premier League title. They will face the winner of the AFC Leopards and Compel SC match, slated for Sunday.
