Kibabii University Exam Cancellation

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino led Kenyans in condemning the cancellation of exams for 65 students at Kibabii University who had a fee balance.

In a statement released on January 17, the affected students were told they would have to apply for special exams in the same courses. Owino was outraged by the university’s decision to extend the students’ stay at the institution. “The roots of education are bitter but the fruit is sweet.

If the University of Nairobi can not do this why is Kibabii University destroying the lives of comrades?,” he questioned. He added that nobody should be punished for lacking school fees noting that education is not preparation for life, education is life itself.

Furthermore, comedian Francis Munyao, also known as MCA Tricky, expressed shock at the punishment implemented by the university. Many called for a motion to be introduced in parliament to prevent this from happening in other learning institutions.

Some Kenyans were angered by the university’s Senate’s rush decision to cancel the exams, calling it inhumane.
