The US win their eigth olympic gold medal in the last 10 Olympics, following a godlike performance from Stephen “Chef” Curry who played a crucial role in leading Team USA to the gold medal. Stephen Curry’s performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics was nothing short of spectacular but he specifically stood out in the finals by showcasing his signature three-point shooting and clutch playmaking abilities, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
Besides Curry’s heroics it is safe to say that all this would not be possible without his teamates who were nothing less than stellar as this team was declared favourites to win the tournament since they seemed like the greatest team to ever been assembled after the dream team in ’92 led by Jordan and the Redeem Team in 2008, which were all formed in similar circumstances which were the previous bismal performances in previous olympics. The Avengers as they are now hailed was led by NBA icon Lebron James and notable hall of famers like: The Slim Reaper Kevin Durant, three point King Steph “Chef” Curry, M.J prodigy Anthony Edwards, MVP Joel Embiid,9x All star Anthony Davis, 3x All star Bam Adebayo,4x All star Devin Booker and current NBA champions Jayson Tatum, Derrick Rose and Jrue Holiday and they were coached by decorated Golden State Warriors coach and former Bulls Hall of famer Steve Kerr.
Despite a slow start in the tournament, France showed their grit by defeating strong teams like Canada and Germany to reach the final. However, against Team USA, they struggled to keep up with the pace and shooting efficiency of the American side. The game was competitive, but France’s inability to consistently score against the U.S.’s tight defense ultimately led to their defeat. In spite of their lose young sensation Victor Wembanyama showed great restraint and potentiality of being a leader despite his young age. France were applauded for their performance as they still manage to snug silver and place second overall considering they had pressure for hosting.
Lé Avengers undefeated performance will forever be remembered as one of the greatest performance in history and the team will go down as one of the greatest teams to ever be assembled.
