In a  move that underscores his unwavering commitment to education, Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, MP for Westlands, has allocated KES 10 million to Westlands Primary School to construct four new classrooms. This announcement was made during the school’s annual general meeting held on Friday, July 26, 2024, where Ben Mwonyonyo, Manager of the Westlands Constituency Office, represented Hon. Wanyonyi.

Mwonyonyo conveyed Hon. Wanyonyi’s regards and highlighted the MP’s substantial contributions to education in the constituency. “Westlands Primary is a model school, and Hon. Tim Wanyonyi has done a lot in education,” Mwonyonyo said. “He has built four new secondary schools from scratch in the constituency and continues to sponsor the top boys and girls in our schools.”

“Hon. Tim Wanyonyi is going for Nairobi governorship in 2027,” Mwonyonyo announced to an enthusiastic audience. “Hon. Tim’s journey to City Hall as governor is still on, and his dedication to education remains steadfast.”

The KES 10 million allocation from the Westlands Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) is part of a broader initiative to enhance the educational infrastructure in Westlands. Mwonyonyo also revealed that in the next financial year, an additional KES 10 million will be allocated to construct four more classrooms at Westlands Primary School.

Pauline Akuku, Chairperson of the Board of Management, commended the school’s move to a cashless system, which has enhanced financial prudence. She also highlighted various improvements, including a new science laboratory for the junior secondary school, a revamped computer laboratory, and energy-saving measures in the kitchen. “The collaborative efforts have provided students with better facilities and a sense of pride,” Akuku said.

Despite these advancements, Akuku noted the urgent need for eight new classrooms by January to enable the transition to grade 9 under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). “We still need a deficit of four classrooms,” she stated.
