MP Tim Wanyonyi Calls for an End to Political Violence After Attack on Kitisuru MCA Alvin Olando

In a strongly worded statement, Westlands MP Hon. Tim Wanyonyi has condemned the recent attack on Kitisuru MCA Alvin Olando, terming it a cowardly and barbaric act that undermines democracy and human rights. The incident, which occurred in Nairobi’s Central Business District, has sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability.

Hon. Wanyonyi expressed his solidarity with MCA Olando, emphasizing that such acts of political thuggery are not just an attack on an individual but an affront to the democratic principles that define our nation. He stated, “Violence in any form is unacceptable. Violence against one of us is violence against all of us, and we must stand together as a society to reject such acts of impunity.”

The MP did not mince his words in calling out the perpetrators, describing their actions as primitive and cowardly. He noted that political violence is a relic of the past and has no place in a modern, democratic Kenya.

Hon. Wanyonyi further called for greater political tolerance and accommodation of divergent views, urging leaders and citizens alike to uphold the values of mutual respect and dialogue. “We must foster political tolerance and embrace the spirit of accommodation for differing opinions. This is the only way to build a peaceful and progressive society,” he said.

In his statement, the MP also called on law enforcement agencies to act decisively in investigating the incident and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable. He emphasized that such actions should serve as a deterrent to anyone contemplating similar acts in the future.
