President William Ruto’s administration has no reason not to deliver what it promised Kenyans, Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Tim Wanyonyi has said
The vocal city legislator said time was running out on the Kenya Kwanza administration to show why it is in office.
According to Mr Wanyonyi, the Ruto-led government should desist from blame games and instead concentrate on improving the country’s economy without causing more misery to Kenyans.
“Our work is to make sure that the government must deliver to the people of Kenya what they promised,” he said.
He added that Kenyans are not interested in the government building houses for them.
The MP insisted that the government can only help Kenyans to acquire and own houses by providing cheap loans.
“If the government wants Kenyans to own houses, it should allow for mortgage but not forcing people to pay for houses. They must lower taxes on essential products like cement so that it can even retail at Ksh 300 and everyone can build a house of their choice,” he argued.
He said that MPs will reject the plan by the Ruto administration to add more burdens on Kenyans, reiterating that he will be among those who will not approve the proposals by the government.
“Even if they come with numbers, we will tell them that any MP who votes for the taxes is an enemy of the people,” he said.
At the same time, he said that Azimio leader Raila Odinga has a plan to engage the public to turn down the government’s plan should it pass on the floor of the National Assembly.
Leaders, he said, are holding legislated power from the people and thus, have to work for the same people who have the sovereign power.

The MP was speaking on Friday, May 19 as he commissioned the tarmacking of the Kangemi-Gichagi Village Inn road as well as Muiri Mahera road in Mountain View ward.
He said that the previous contractor had not made drainage and thus, the current contractor has been tasked with making drainage properly.
The MP also assured locals that the contractor had agreed to use the services of local youths as he works on the road.
“We have agreed with the contractor that our youths should be given priority. But when you’ve been contracted, do not make mistakes and errors, just work,” he said.
He also urged local traders to be on the forefront of maintaining estate roads by not dumping waste on the roads and drainage systems.
At the same time, he urged local leaders, including MCAs to work as a team so as to realise development in the constituency.
He said there was no need for unnecessary competition among local leaders for projects saying all they do, is for the benefit of the local residents.
Hon Wanyonyi was accompanied by the Kangemi MCA Hon Hamisi Maleya.
