No Room for gays in Kenya, MP Tim Wanyonyi Says

Kenya cannot legalise same sex relationships, Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi has said.

The MP faulted the recent ruling by the Supreme Court giving way for gays to associate freely in the country explaining that such a move cannot be accepted.

The ruling, he said, was just but a tip of the iceberg and warned that if not careful, the practice could start being normalized in the country.

According to the MP, the younger generation is at risk of being inducted into homesexuality and lesbianism and warned parents to be alert and teach their children good morals.

“Our young people are the biggest target. What you saw the Supreme Court say recently is just a tip of the iceberg. That thing is very much within us and we must rise up and protect our children,” he noted.

Mr Wanyonyi called on schools not to allow such behavior take root and that they should discourage activities likely to promote the vice.

He said there are many attempts to legalise same sex relationships with some attempting to sneak into parliament legislation that seeks to entrench the practice into law.

Mr Wanyonyi said that those involved in the vice and who stay together shamelessly seek to adopt children yet they themselves cannot procreate.

“Why can’t they get their own children? We do not want and cannot allow such thing to happen,” he said.

He was speaking during a thanksgiving anniversary service at St Philips ACK Thiboro on Sunday, March 5.
