Colombian singer Shakira recently released a new song, “BZRP Music Session #53”, which has caused a stir on social media due to its apparent references to her former partner, retired Spanish footballer Gerard Pique.
The song, which was listened to 34 million times in just 17 hours, includes lyrics that appear to criticize Pique’s current girlfriend, Clara Chia, and suggests that Shakira would not take Pique back even if he begged her to do so.
This is the third song Shakira has released about the couple’s separation, which was announced in June. Shakira and Pique were together for over a decade and have two children together. Shakira is currently facing a trial in Spain for alleged tax fraud, and Pique was convicted of the same charge in 2016.
