Talented Girl Begins Secondary School After Missing Term One, Thanks to Scholarship from MP Tim Wanyonyi

In a heartwarming display of humanitarian aid, Westlands Member of Parliament, Tim Wanyonyi, has once again stepped in to alleviate the educational burdens of a deserving student.

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi with Bibian in his office, celebrating her new opportunity to attend secondary school.

Ongango Bibian Atieno, a diligent pupil from Karura Forest Primary School, found herself facing daunting financial obstacles despite her exceptional performance in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams last year.

Scoring an impressive 339 marks out of 500, Bibian earned a well-deserved place at Maina Wanjigi Secondary School in Nairobi.

However, her transition to secondary education was impeded by her family’s financial constraints. With both parents struggling to make ends meet – her mother, Irene Akida, having closed her second-hand clothing business due to capital constraints, and her father, Stanley Polycarp Onyango, working as a casual laborer in construction sites – the prospect of funding Bibian’s education seemed bleak.

Bibian beams with happiness as she reports to school, accompanied by her father, Stanley Polycarp Onyango, who carries her essential school items.

At fourteen years old, Bibian was not alone in her family’s struggle. She has two sisters, Felly Adhiambo and Ratego Ratego, along with a two-year-old brother, Pessy Anyango, all reliant on their parents’ meager income for survival.

As the months passed and Bibian remained at home for term one while her peers embarked on their secondary education journey, the plight of the Atieno family caught the attention of MP Tim Wanyonyi.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Wanyonyi swiftly intervened, offering to cover Bibian’s full-year school fees amounting to KES 40,535 as well shopping of all essential school items required as well as pocket money.

With this generous assistance, Bibian’s dreams of pursuing her education can now be realized without the burden of financial worry.

The young scholar, filled with delight and gratitude, stepped into her new school, empowered to focus wholeheartedly on her studies.

This act of compassion exemplifies Wanyonyi’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no bright student is left behind due to financial constraints.

Through his continued efforts, he not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens the fabric of the society, embodying the spirit of unity and support that defines Westlands constituency.
