Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi today oversaw the distribution of Westlands NG-CDF bursary cheques to successful secondary and college students from Mountain View Ward and Kangemi Ward. The disbursement ceremonies took place at St. Joseph Primary School for Mountain View and New Kihumbuini Primary School for Kangemi.
During the event at St. Joseph Primary School, MP Tim Wanyonyi addressed the residents of Mountain View, expressing his appreciation for their continued support and urging patience during the distribution process. “Be patient as you are being served. If you got a form, you will get a cheque,” he reassured the crowd. He also encouraged students to take their bursary cheques to school once they reopen next week.
Mr. Wanyonyi spoke about his commitment to the Westlands community, emphasizing his work in improving infrastructure and addressing constituents’ concerns. He encouraged aspiring politicians to engage with the people directly, particularly with the upcoming ODM elections. Wanyonyi reaffirmed his intention to run for Nairobi Governor in 2027, seeking the blessings and support of his constituents.
At New Kihumbuini Primary School in Kangemi, Josephat Ngaira, a member of the Westlands NG-CDF, spoke on behalf of the chairlady, who was absent due to illness. He announced that the number of bursary beneficiaries for secondary school had increased from 600 to 1,000, a testament to MP Wanyonyi’s dedication to supporting education.
Kangemi Member of County Assembly Hamisi Maleya also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of serving the constituents and avoiding premature politicking. He shared plans for a new market and fire station in Kangemi, as well as initiatives to combat issues like alcoholism among the youth.
In his remarks to Kangemi residents, MP Wanyonyi stressed the need for accountability in governance, calling out Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja for alleged mismanagement of county resources. He criticized the governor’s frequent travel abroad while local issues like garbage accumulation were left unresolved. Wanyonyi promised to serve the people of Westlands diligently, even as he aimed for the Nairobi Governor’s position in 2027.
The bursary distribution will continue tomorrow, April 23, 2024, in Kitisuru Ward at Loresho Secondary School and Parklands Ward at Highridge Primary School. These bursaries are part of the ongoing efforts to support education and provide opportunities for the youth in Westlands.
