On June 12th 2024 the NBA lost one of it’s greatest and legendary players since it’s inception Jerry ‘Clutch’ West. Known for his high-scoring prowess and the iconic silhouette that inspired the NBA logo, West’s impact on basketball spanned three decades, first as a player and later as a top-tier executive.
Jerry was a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1960-1974, where he plsyed an integral role through his defensive prowess and competitive winning spirit. All through his career Jerry averaged 27 points per game and became a 14-time All-Star. His perfect jumper and impressive defensive and dribbling techniques earned him the name ‘Mr. Clutch’ due to his remarkable ability to come through for his team during clutch moments a suitable iconic moment showing how prolific West was, is when he shot a 60 foot shot against the nicks in the 1970’s final that silenced the entire arena. He also became the first and only player to win the MVP award without winning the series after they lost to Bill Russel’s Celtics.

Jerry also made strides after his retirement by becoming a strategic executive by making instrumental and smart decisions that are behind the dominance of the Lakers in 80’s and 2000’s and the notable greatness of three dynasties i.e Clippers, Golden State and Grizzlies by making sound decisions that proved instrumental for their future success’.

Died at the age of 86 there is no doubt that Jerry left a mark in the NBA world and despite his death he will forever be remembered as one of the greatest players of all time.
