Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi Joins Obulala Festival, Affirms Gubernatorial Bid for Nairobi

Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi graced the vibrant atmosphere of the Obulala Festival held at Carnivore, Nairobi on Thursday night.

Amidst high spirits and rhythmic Luhya tunes, the legislator showcased his dance moves and engaged with the enthusiastic crowd.

Not only did Mr. Wanyonyi participate in the festivities, but he was also recognized as one of the sponsors of the event.

Addressing the thousands in attendance, he emphasized the importance of celebrating and preserving Luhya culture and heritage.

“This is our Luhya night. This is our culture, this is our heritage,” declared Wanyonyi.

“Today, we are here to celebrate our culture through food, music, and every aspect of the Luhya nation.”

Highlighting the unity within the Luhya community, Wanyonyi emphasized the inclusive nature of their culture, stating, “By coming here, you are showing that within the Luhya, there are no boundaries despite the diversity of subtribes.Luhyas are the most democratic people, and together, we must speak with one voice and take charge of our destiny.”

Amidst resounding cheers of support, Wanyonyi expressed his determination to contest the Nairobi City County gubernatorial seat in 2027, rallying for unity and solidarity among his supporters.

The event saw the presence of notable figures including Azimio coalition principals Kalonzo Musyoka, George Wajackoya, and Eugene Wamalwa, as well as Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, Embakasi South MP Julius Mawathe, Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda, and former nominated senator Beatrice Kwamboka.

Together, they joyfully danced to the rhythmic beats of Luhya songs performed by various artists, fostering a sense of unity and celebration.
