Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi Unveils New Classrooms at Kabete Vet Lab School

Westlands Member of Parliament has officially unveiled five new modern classrooms at Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School, putting the institution on the path to better performance.

Kabete Vet Lab Secondary school sums up as one of the four pioneer secondary schools the Westlands MP started in the constituency during his second term.

So far, the institution boasts of 15 state of the art classrooms and 2 modern laboratories builty by the Westlands NG-CDF.

Similarly, the legislator handed over a perimeter wall, carbro parking and 10 renovated classrooms at Kabete Vet Lab primary school who share the same compound with the secondary school.

The primary school which had been neglected before Mr Tim Wanyonyi was first elected as the aWestlands MP, now stands among other institutions with some of the best facilities and good performance by students.

“We have transformed this school into a modern one. The moment we improve the infrastructure, enrolment shot up,” he narrated the school’s journey.

“The parents now have gained confidence knowing very well that the infrastructure here, the teachers in this school and security is just as good as that for any other school in Westlands,” he added.

It had been overlooked since it was not a strong polling station for previous legislators.

However, this has changed and in the past 10 years, the school has been on an upward trajectory.

The MP encouraged the community around the schools to embrace them and enroll their children in large numbers saying the institutions now have all the resources they need to offer quality education.

He urged parents to be involved with their children’s daily lives and not to leave it to teachers alone as that is the spirit of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

“Please support your children in school, don’t just dump them to teachers and vanish. Be responsive when you are called upon. This is a very important stage in their lives,” he urged.

Previously, the two Kabete Vet Lab primary and secondary school had a strained relationship but this was settled under the stewardship of Mr Wanyonyi.

The Primary and Secondary Schools share the same compound and this was the main source of a major rift between the two institutions leaving it so neglected that the enrolment was pathetic.

However, as at now, following the truce, the primary school boasts of over 1400 students up from some 600 almost ten years ago.

At the same time, the secondary school wished to be assisted in acquisition of a school bus which would be of great help to the students.

Speaking at the same time, the secondary school principal raised concerns about a matatu stage that is near the school explaining that it is a source of distraction.

To him, it would be better if the terminus is shifted a little bit far away from the school in as much as it serves as a nice picking and dropping point for students.
